The Mule is a American crime drama film created in 2018 and directed by Clint Eastwood, who also plays the lead role. Although this film seems a little unlikely, it is based on the real story of Leo Sharp. However, the film manages to be funny while we feel sorry for the protagonist. Having actors like Clint Eastwood, Bradley Cooper and Dianne Wiest, this is obviously a very engaging film with great performances.
The film explores the life of Earl Stones, a very
funny guy in his 80s who's facing financial ruin as well as is estranged
from his ex-wife Mary and daughter Iris for always putting work before family.
Fortunately, he keeps in touch with his granddaughter and goes to his
wedding. Desperate for money, he takes up an offer from the friend of one of
Ginny's bridesmaids and becomes a "mule" transporting cocaine through
Illinois for a Mexican drug cartel. Unfortunately, DEA agents catch up to him, but
he continues to care of plants in prison, as he always did.
This film is very good and perfectly completes the
wide range of films by Clint Eastwood. Furthermore, this film manages to
hold our attention, because we want to see the plot unfold, despite
we immediately understand where Earl is getting into.
