Dragon Ball Super: Broly) is an animated fantasy action film, the 20th film in the Dragon Ball manga and anime series, and the first film based on the Dragon Ball Super series. The film was released on December 14, 2018 in theaters in Japan. It premiered on January 3, 2019 in theaters in Brazil and March 14, 2019 in theaters in Portugal. It was officially announced on December 17, 2017, and is the third Dragon Ball movie, personally supervised by creator Akira Toriyama, preceded by Dragon Ball Z: Fukkatsu no F, in 2015. This is the first traditional anime film to feature Broly from the 1993 film Dragon Ball Z: Burn Up !! A Close Fight - A Violent Fight - A Super Fierce Fight is the first to characterize the character in a film written personally by the series creator, Akira Toriyama.
